You want these cookies don't you? I bet you're drooling ever so slightly. If I told you that you might already have the supplies to make them, would you? I thought so.

Here's what you need:

  • 2 sticks of unsalted butter (1 cup), softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat that oven to 350 °F. Get your cookie sheets out and grease 'em. You could use parchment paper too. In a large stand mixer, cream both sticks of butter. Add the white and brown sugar to the bowl. Let the buttery sugar mixture mix awhile until light and fluffy.

Next, drop one egg into the bowl. No, not with the shell, take that off first. Beat that egg until well-blended. Add the other egg and repeat the beating. With the eggs, sugar and butter well-blended, stir in the vanilla.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly, stir the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture.

All right, just about done. Turn the mixer off and fold in the chocolate chips. Tada, cookie dough. Scoop it into small ball-like shapes and place them on the cookie sheets. Shove those sheets in the oven for 12-14 minutes. If you're doing more than one sheet, add a minute or two. The edges of the cookies will turn light golden brown when they're done. Allow the cookies to cool before eating. Serve with a cup of black coffee.
